The Ohio State University freshman class of 2018 was given an enthusiastic welcome August 25 as approximately 7000 students were bussed directly from the President’s Convocation on campus to the downtown Nationwide Arena to become familiar to what Columbus has to offer outside of the campus area.
In a pre-event press conference, new OSU President Dr. Michael Drake said he was thrilled for the opportunities that lie ahead for these students.
Mayor Michael Coleman (shown seated) addressed how much Columbus has to offer students during their time at OSU and life afterwards with his ultimate goal of students becoming a vital part of the city’s future.
The professionally produced, energetic multi-screen production featured community, statewide and OSU leaders, athletes, and influential people in business, many of whom are alumni and have made Columbus their post-graduation home.
Through recorded profiles and on-stage interviews by OSU students, freshmen learned of the diverse food, nightlife, and entertainment options as well as what OSU has to offer in and out of the classroom.
One student leaving was overheard saying “I never knew Columbus had so much to offer! What a great event!”
Welcome to all of the freshman, and welcome back returning students!!!!
