While Joan Rivers never performed at the Schottenstein Center or Nationwide Arena, the first time I ever saw Joan Rivers live was in Columbus with the great Don Rickles. I remember she had a filthy mouth and no celebrity was safe from her wicked humor. I don’t recall ever laughing so hard. Every comedian, male or especially female, was influenced in some way from her incredible comedic timing and stage presence. She was a true legend, and like Robin Williams, was one of a kind and we will never see the likes of her again.
Recently, I was a regular viewer of her podcast “In Bed With Joan.” The guests were not always household names, but the shows were so funny and classic Joan! You should check them out.
Some of Joan Rivers’ most hilarious moments were when she was a guest on “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson. And when she guest hosted for Johnny, it was must-see viewing! Below is a 1984 guest spot on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” retrospective special, which includes an early 1968 clip of one of her first appearances with Johnny…and as mentioned above, no one is safe!
R.I.P. Joan Rivers.
