IN THE NEWS…The Boss and the Alternative Press Music Awards Coming to the Schott; 2016 Buckeye Country Superfest Stars Up For 11 ACM Awards; and 3 Million Pounds of Dirt Fill Nationwide Arena for the ‘World’s Toughest Rodeo!’

JUST ANNOUNCED!

Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famers Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform April 12 at the Schottenstein Center as part of their “The River Tour.” Springsteen, regarded as one of the greatest live performers of all-time, will perform the classic 1980 two-record set “The River” in its entirety with the E Street Band. Tickets go on sale February 5.

Also announced was the prestigious The Alternative Press Music Awards, which will be broadcast live from the Schottenstein Center on July 18.  The biggest stars in alternative music will be recognized.  Ticket information and who will be attending and performing have not yet been announced.

2016 BUCKEYE COUNTRY SUPERFEST STARS NOMINATED FOR 11 ACM AWARDS!

Six stars of the 2016 Buckeye Country Superfest (BCS) have been honored with a total of 11 nominations for this April’s Academy of Country Music Awards, and two of the superstar headliners will host!  Of course, the second BCS, already one of music’s biggest and most exciting festivals in the country, will be held June 18 – 19 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR: Luke Bryan (fourth consecutive year) and Jason Aldean

MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR: Jason Aldean and Dierks Bentley

VOCAL DUO OF THE YEAR: Florida Georgia Line

NEW MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR: Thomas Rhett

NEW VOCAL DUO OR GROUP: A Thousand Horses

ALBUM OF THE YEAR: Thomas Rhett  “Tangled Up”

SINGLE RECORD OF THE YEAR:  Thomas Rhett  “Die A Happy Man”

VIDEO OF THE YEAR: Dierks Bentley  “Riser”

VOCAL EVENT OF THE YEAR: Luke Bryan featuring Karen Fairchild

To point out the star power of Buckeye Country Superfest at Ohio Stadium, five of the inaugural BCS lineup from last year were also nominated.  They include Rascal Flatts (Vocal Group of the Year), Keith Urban (Vocal Event of the Year), Kenny Chesney (Vocal Event of the Year), Brett Eldredge (New Male Vocalist, Male Vocalist of the Year) and Parmalee (New Vocal Group of the Year).

Root for these Buckeye Country Superfest nominees Sunday, April 3 at 8 p.m. when CBS will air the 51st Annual ACM Awards live from Las Vegas.

FROM HOCKEY ICE TO THREE MILLION POUNDS OF DIRT: THE TRANSFORMATION OF NATIONWIDE ARENA FOR ‘WORLD’S TOUGHEST RODEO!”

More than 45 cowboys, a hilarious professional rodeo clown, Whiplash the Cowboy Monkey and horses, bulls and broncos entertained an enthusiastic crowd last Saturday (January 30) at the return of “World’s Toughest Rodeo” at Nationwide Arena!

One question overheard many times was how did the floor of Nationwide Arena go from ice for the Columbus Blue Jackets to dirt (and lots of it!) for the Rodeo?  Gary The Arena Guy answered that curiosity when he visited with Cameron Fontana from ABC/FOX’s “Good Day Columbus” as the event’s set-up was underway.  Check out the video below:
