The 2016-17 Columbus Arena Sports and Entertainment year is just two months underway, but already six artists who have performed at or are scheduled tperform at the Schottenstein Center and Nationwide Arena this season have been nominated for honors at the 2016 Video Music Awards (VMA’s).
Those performers include Drake, Kanye West, All Time Low, Coldplay, Demi Lovato and Mike Posner. Drake who performed with Future at Nationwide Arena on August 13, has six nominations, followed by Coldplay (3), Kanye West (2), All Time Low (1), Demi Lovato (1) and Mike Posner (1).
Drake is nominated for Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Hip Hop Video, and Best Art Direction for “Hotline Bling.” He was also nominated for his contribution to Rhianna’s video “Work,” which is up for Best Female Video and Best Collaboration.
Coldplay which rocked Nationwide Arena on July 28, with their amazing concert is nominated for Best Rock Video for “Adventures of a Lifetime,” and Best Direction and Best Visual Effects for “Up&Up.”
Kanye West, who is bringing his Saint Pablo Tour to the Schottenstein Center on September 25, is nominated for Video of the Year and Best Male Video for his controversial video “Famous.”
All Time Low, who hosted the Alternative Press Music Awards on July 18 at the Schottenstein Center, is nominated for Best Rock Video for “Missing You.” Demi Lovato is nominated in that same category for her role in Fall Out Boy’s “Irresistible” video. Mike Posner, who was incredible as the opening act for the Demi and Nick Jonas concert July 27 at the Schott, is nominated for Best Electronic Video for “I Took a Pill in Ibiza.”
